Horse racing is one of the types of equestrian sports, which has a long history. It is known that horse races were widely conducted in India and Ancient Greece, at least as early as 1000 B.C, and possibly even earlier.
Horse racing was the main part of the program of the Olympic Games in ancient Greece, held from the VII century B.C. At the beginning of the competition included only running chariots drawn by four.
Later horse races were added, as well as chariot races with pair sleds and contests for boy riders. The races were held at the hippodrome, the length of the circle of which was approximately 300 meters. The significance of these Olympic competitions of antiquity was so great that the winners on returning home were honored as heroes.
In Malaysia, horse racing was introduced during the British colonial era. Horse racing is a legal gambling, but it is only allowed at the various tracks. Races are governed under the rules of the Malayan Racing Association.
There are three race courses in Malaysia, namely Perak Turf Club (7874 turf track) Selangor Turf Club (6562 turf track which is open Monday thru Friday), Penang Turf Club.
Similar to Malaysia, horse racing was introduced to Singapore by the British during the colonial era. As a provider of unique entertainment, Singapore Turf Club remains committed to offering fun, thrills and excitement for all, while giving a legalized gaming experience of the highest integrity.
True, still not everyone had the opportunity to bet. But with the development of Internet technology, finally, it was possible to place bets in all the bookmakers in the world, without leaving home.
The simplicity of the transaction and the quick result at the races attract millions of people. There is no need to wait until the match ends or the course grows, the result becomes known in a few minutes.
But not everything is as harmless as it seems at first glance. Practice shows that where big money is spinning, there are always people who are ready to play an unfair game. And equestrian sport, unfortunately, is no exception.
There are many different types of horse racing around the world, including:
- Flat racing, the horses run on a track without obstacles
- Jump racing, horses jump hurdles
- cross-country: horses run on a track with natural obstacles
- steeple-chase: horses run on a track with artificial obstacles
